It’s been a while since I’ve gotten off my butt and blogged. No blog tours, no reviews, nothing. Just, gone. To be honest, I do this every so often, but in this case, it was a combination of factors.
The first factor was burnout. I got seriously burnt out on blogging. Keeping up with all the blog tours, trying to get books read for BBNYA1Which I LOVED, don’t get me wrong!!, trying to get my NetGalley & Edelweiss queues down to a manageable level2NetGalley is currently at 56, with Edelweiss at 11., and reviewing the books I read got to the point where I was stressed. I felt like I couldn’t read a book just for me, that I had to review every book I read, because every book I read was for a blog tour or NetGalley/Edelweiss. So I stopped reading.
The second factor was that I’d come to loathe social media. I didn’t want to be on Facebook, Instagram, or X. I just wanted to be free. Free of the irritation I felt at some of the posts I saw. Free of the “need” to create posts/content. I just didn’t want to be there and I needed a break.
Factor number three came in the form of hating what my blog looked like. I wanted a change, but didn’t know what I wanted to do. I made a few changes, thought I was happy, decided I hated it. Made a very ranty post on X about it3Sorry to those that saw that, I just REALLY needed to vent. :/. FINALLY got inspiration from Sam at Fictionally Sam, because she was using a theme I own and I realized it was exactly what I needed. I took some other inspiration from her blog as well. I thank Sam greatly for that!
The final factor happened in January 2024, and that was my going back to school. To collect my 4th and 5th Associate’s degrees. Yes, I said 4th and 5th. I have Associate’s degrees in web design, graphic design, and digital marketing. Now I’m going for cybersecurity and networking degrees at Pikes Peak State College with plans to transfer to UCCS4University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to get a Bachelor’s level degree in one or both of these majors.
I’m taking a full course load5Defined by the US Department of Education as 12 credit hours/semester – Complete Spreadsheets (Excel), Intro to PC Applications (Microsoft Office), Technical Writing 1, and Interpersonal Communication. It’s been a few years since I’ve gone to school in person, with a full course load at that, so it’s been kicking my butt. I don’t think I’m doing horribly in my classes, as far as I know I didn’t get any of the warning messages that I’m doing badly, but still. I spend a lot of time doing homework and going to class, so I don’t want to read after reading all the stuff for school!
But I’m starting to read again. I think I missed a blog tour I’d signed up for… I’m so sorry if I did… college has caused a bit of brain-drain. I have a blog tour coming up on March 22, and I’m doing my best to get the book read in time so I can post the tour post!
Hopefully I’ll get back in the groove of things and start posting again. I also plan to add reviews and posts about movies/TV shows and music because honestly, I watch movies/TV shows and I listen to music all the time! So that should give me more to post about. Until next post, which hopefully will be soon, take care and have fun!
